Description: Awareness level responders are those persons who discover a hazardous materials release or who respond to hazardous materials/WMD incidents for the purpose of protecting nearby persons, the environment, or property from the effects of the release. They should be trained to respond in a defensive fashion to control identify the hazard, isolate the scene and deny entry to those in the area, make notification and when necessary evacuate those in danger.

Requirements for Certification: Candidates shall be at least 18 years of age. Complete a 50 question written exam with a passing score of 70% or higher. Complete a practical skills examination with a “Passing” score.
