At the Louisiana Fire & Emergency Training Academy (FETA), our philosophy is simple: Combine real-life props with an experienced and knowledgeable staff to deliver the most realistic training experience available. With safety in the forefront of everyone’s mind, we design emergency scenarios to train the emergency response community to be better prepared for and ready to respond to real-world emergencies.

The Louisiana Fire and Emergency Training Academy has the critical mission of providing high quality life saving training for firefighters throughout not only the state but the nation. The core training within the Municipal Section are the “Fundamentals” of fire and emergency response. The municipal training curriculum assures fire service personnel are academically prepared for their positions at all levels of any fire and emergency service agency. The municipal curriculum prepares attendees to sit for the certification exams.
Firefighting is internationally known as an honorable and trusted profession for its sense of selflessness and efforts to help other people. Because of the dangers involved in the profession, and even in the training for it, proper training, physical ability and discipline are paramount. The FETA Recruit Fire Academy course is designed for entry-level firefighters and is taught under the same paramilitary chain of command used in today’s fire departments.
EMS is a large portion of services provided by fire and emergency agencies throughout the nation. The Louisiana Fire and Emergency Training Academy provides all levels of emergency medical training to assure your agency is prepared to provide life saving services to any community or location.
The Certification Program is to identify and recognize emergency service personnel whose accomplishments in training and education meets or exceeds nationally recognized standards. The NFPA standards for Fire Service Professional Qualifications identify the minimum requirements for a person at a particular level of progression. A person certified to one of the Fire Service Professional levels will have demonstrated competency in the knowledge and skills required to perform at a particular level. The service that can be offered to the citizens, visitors, and communities of Louisiana will be enhanced by the professional competency attained through this certification process.
