Description: Fire Investigator shall have the ability to inspect and evaluate a fire scene or evidence of a fire scene and determine the area or point of origin, source of ignition, material ignited and the act or activity that brought the ignition source and materials together, have an understanding of fire behavior, phases of fire development and the impact of suppression activities on a fire scene. Investigator shall also diagram a fire scene through photography and field notes, obtain information regarding the investigation from others through interviews, investigate all factors beyond the fire scene to determine the organ and cause of the fire. Complete final file preparation and present investigative findings to others for further actions. The fire investigator shall also know how to prepare themselves for testifying in a legal proceeding if necessary.

Requirements for Certification: Candidates shall be at least 18 years of age. Attendance of an approved course. Complete a skills examination with a "Passing" score. Complete an 100 question written examination with a passing score of 70% or higher.
