Course Description:


This course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to operate a fire department aerial ladder truck and associated equipment. Students will learn to safely and effectively operate an aerial ladder at afire or emergency scene. Major topics covered in the course are truck company operations, tool requirements, terminology, techniques of spotting, stabilizing, working angles, loading, extreme operating conditions, raising and lowering, controls and valves, hydraulic systems, water tower operations, stand- pipe operations, ladders, safety rules, maintenance, and testing.

Certification:


The Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator - Aerial certification exam is not offered during the duration of the course. Certification information can be found under the certification portion of the web page.

Class Notes:


80% attendance and participation is required in order to successfully complete the course and receive the course completion certificate. Pre-tests and Post-tests may be given to assess the knowledge obtained from the course.

*If more than one course price is shown, the first price applies to all Louisiana Municipal Fire Departments who are issued a Fire Department ID from the State Fire Marshal's Office and are supported by the 2% Fire Insurance Fund. The second price applies to all non-Louisiana Municipal Fire Departments including state agencies (in-state and out-of-state), out-of-state fire departments, federal agencies, and the private sector, etc.
