Course Description:
This course is required for those students who wish to maintain their First Responder certification. The Louisiana Bureau of EMS has updated course content to reflect the current changes. Attendance at all class sessions is mandatory, and students are required to successfully complete a practical and written examination.
Prerequisite(s):
Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)at the Health Care Provider(American Heart Association) or Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross) level is a prerequisite to attending First Responder Refresher training. Students are required to furnish copies of current BLS and First Responder certificates/cards at the start of the course. Failure to provide this documentation will result in dismissal from the course.
Certification:
Continuing education units for Emergency Medical Technicians will not be awarded for First Responder course content.
